Start the weekend fun early at Lanza’s with trivia. It will feature two question and answer rounds, a halftime speed round, and a music round. For more information, click here.

Grow To Life will be starting another series this Friday. The Healthy Alternative Preparation and Nutrition education will have Chef Yah-I teaching you all about healthy alternatives and the delicious ways you can prepare them. Click here for more information on the class.

Friday, June 16 4:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.; 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Get the kids involved this weekend with two class options at Kidzu Children’s Museum. The first class is a free Creative Movement and Ballet class. Kids will learn from Daisy Hodge, an American Dance Festival instructor, beginner ballet moves and will teach them how to express themselves with movement. 

After the ballet class, participants are invited to a free garden party. Kids will learn all about hummingbirds, bees, butterflies, and more through nature based crafts and activities. Meadowlark Music will be performing for the kids and all kids will have the chance to see live bees with the OC Beekeeper Association. For more information on both classes, click here.

Start your weekend at the Carolina Inn for Fridays on the Front Porch. Enjoy some live music while you sip on a handcrafted cocktail or a North Carolina beer. Food trucks will be on hand serving food as well. Click here to view the lineup.

Come out to Craftboro Brewing Depot Friday and Saturday for a Thai food pop up. Chef Dream Kasestatad comes from four generations of family owned Thai restaurants and is the owner of traveling Thai street food pop-up Pranom Pop-Up. Food will be served starting at 5:00 on Friday and at 12:00 on Saturday until food runs out so you’ll want to get your plate quickly! The 9th annual Freight Train Blues concert series starts this weekend in Carrboro. The concert series celebrates the life and legacy of blueswoman Elizabeth “Libba” Cotten. This week’s lineup features gospel group Faith Harmony and shout gospel band Mangum & Company . Click here for more information.

Flyleaf books will be hosting a book signing and recipe tasting with Ed and Ryan Mitchell this Friday. In collaboration with his son, Ryan, Ed Mitchell wrote his first cookbook about hog barbecue and the generationaly passed down technique that has made him famous. Click here for more information.

Saturday, June 17, all day

Chelsea Theater will be holding their “Chelsea Classics” series starting this weekend. THe 28 film selection includes independent films, international favorites, underseen Hollywood classics, and more. The showings start with My Man Godfrey at 4:00. Click here to get your tickets.

Saturday, June 17 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Celebrate Juneteenth with our community this weekend at the Hargraves Center. The celebration returns for a second year featuring food, fun, music, more. The celebration begins at 10 with a dedication for the Hargraves Historical Marker, part of the NC Civil Rights Trail. There will be live music throughout the day, including gospel, drum lines, rap artists, and more. Black businesses will be on display throughout the event and local non-profits will be on-hand selling their goods. Entertainment will be available for kids, including face painting and more. Saturday, June 17 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Market and Moss will be celebrating the start of patio season with a shrimp boil patio party. The party will include live music, summer cocktails, an oyster bar, and of course, cajun seasoned shrimp. To get your tickets, click here.

Saturday, June 17 3:30 p.m.

Spend your Saturday evening at Craftboro Brewing Depot. Craftboro will be offering a brewery tour with their head brewer Tate Little. He will take you through the process from start to finish of how your favorite local brews are made. Tickets are $5 and include a flight of your favorite brews. The Goathouse Refuge will be holding an art show to support a new care initiative for aging cats. Any and all creatives are invited to submit their art work to be displayed. Goathouse founder, Siglinda Scarpa will be exhibiting some of her own handmade artwork to be displayed and sold. All proceeds from Scarpa’s own work will go toward supporting The Goathouse Refuge’s new care initiative. A portion of other artists’ sold work will also go toward the care initiative as well. Sunday, June 18 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Come out to the Carrboro Century Center this weekend for No Shame Theatre Carrboro. Each performance is original and will last 5 minutes and will be provided by fellow audience members.
