
The Chapel Hill Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at the UNC School of Medicine’s Marsico Hall at 10:49 p.m. Wednesday night. Marsico Hall is located at 125 Mason Farm Road in Chapel Hill.
Firefighters extinguished the parts of the fire the building’s sprinkler system did not reach, though the structure did suffer “extensive” smoke and water damage on multiple floors, according to the Town of Chapel Hill. No injuries were reported.
Crews from the Carrboro, North Chatham and Durham fire departments, as well as Orange County Emergency Services and the South Orange Rescue Squad all assisted with the incident. The scene was cleared at 4:45 a.m. UNC-Chapel Hill Environment, Health and Safety is investigating the cause of the fire.
