Hillsborough Gallery of Arts new group show is on display this weekend! The new exhibit “Melting” will be on display through February 12th featuring art from Gallery members, including paintings and other mediums. For more information on Hillsborough Gallery of Arts, click here.

Saturday, January 14 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

If you weren’t able to make it last weekend, you’ve got another chance to enjoy some s’mores with goats at Spring Haven Farm. The farm will be open for you to spend some time with the animals. Before or after your visit with the animals, you can warm up by the fire and roast some s’mores. There’s more than one s’mores kit to choose from with excellent choices that aren’t just your regular s’mores! Once you’ve finished your s’mores, you can then feed the farm animals. Saturday, January 14 7:30 p.m.

The ArtCenter will be showing the premiere of a play written by Mark Cornell, The Other Half. The story follows Michelle as she finds her place in the world after hardships that have set her back. It’s a love story about bonds that can never be broken as well as heartbreak. Click here to get your tickets.

Sunday, January 15 12:00 p.m.

Get some hands-on experience with Botanist and Barrel. Learn how to properly prune a blueberry bush from experts while you trim and prune your own. The experts will be on hand to answer any and all questions you have related to growing your own blueberry bush. Bring your own loppers and gloves, Botanist and Barrel will provide the rest. Check out some live music this weekend with the School of Rock at The Pinhook. The house bands from School of Rock Chapel Hill, Cary, and Wake Forest are teaming up for a night of great music supporting an excellent cause, TABLE. Come out to Flyleaf Books for a poetry reading. Each month for the next five months, two poets will be coming in to read from their new books. This month will feature Janis Harrington and J.S. Absher. The reading will be followed by an open house for anyone to read their own poems. For more information, click here.

The UNC Friday Center will be holding their 38th annual MLK Banquet to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The banquet will feature keynote speaker, Dr. Leah Cox, the awarding of scholarships and awards, and entertainment. Click here to get your tickets.

Tuesday, January 17 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Extend the weekend events into the week with the first showing of The Chosen. The first multi-season show about the life of Christ from the perspective of the people who knew Him best. This crowd-funded media is faithful to scripture. One episode of the eight in season one will be aired at Varsity Theater through March 7th. For more information, click here.
