Basecamp, a new Franklin Street restaurant and bar from the owner of MoMo’s Master, will conduct a soft opening from next week through the end of July.
Ramesh Dahal, the owner of Basecamp and MoMo’s Master, confirmed the news to Chapelboro earlier this week.
“I decided to open Basecamp because of the support I have received from the people of Chapel Hill,” Dahal said. “Customers love our food, and everyone is very supportive of what we do at MoMo’s Master. I want to create a place to foster good experiences for everyone in this town to appreciate the kindness and hospitality they have shown for MoMo’s Master.”
Basecamp is taking over the space formerly occupied by Jed’s Kitchen at 105 East Franklin Street.
The business was originally scheduled to open at the end of April, but the date was pushed back due to technical issues. The new grand opening date will be Friday, May 27 at 4 p.m. It will include a ribbon cutting ceremony held by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce as well as a free food sampler and soft drinks for invitees until 5 p.m. Basecamp will then open to the general public at 5 p.m.
Basecamp’s soft opening hours will be 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, and Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Operation hours will be updated after the soft opening phase.
Basecamp includes multiple menus: a main menu, a bar menu, a brunch menu and daily specials. According to Dahal, the brunch menu will only be available on Sundays. Items on the main menu include selections of kebabs and small appetizer plates. The bar menu features cocktails, martinis and “high teas.” The brunch menu includes many classic brunch favorites such as pancakes and waffles, as well as a “Build Your Own Brunch Plate” option.
