The Chapel Hill Fire Department is investigating a fire reported at a playground within an apartment complex on Thursday.
A release from the town government said firefighters responded to reports of a fire along Drew Hill Lane around 5 a.m., within the Notting Hill apartment and town home community. Upon arrival, they found a fire toward the back of the complex at a playground, which is near the tennis courts.
Firefighters put out the flames within 30 minutes of being on the scene, according to the Chapel Hill Fire Department. No injuries were reported in the incident, but the playground structure sustained significant damage.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation, with a spokesperson for the department saying there were no updates as of 11:30 a.m. While the investigation is being completed, the playground is marked off with police tape and is not open to apartment residents.
