The upcoming UNC men’s basketball game against Virginia Tech, scheduled for December 29 at 7 p.m., has been postponed due to COVID protocols within the Hokies’ program.
Per updated ACC regulations regarding COVID, both programs will now search for a make-up date for the game. Should no make-up date be agreed upon, the game will be ruled as a no-contest, and will not count against either team’s record.
This is the second UNC game this season which has been affected by COVID. The Tar Heels’ CBS Sports Classic matchup, originally scheduled against UCLA, was switched to Kentucky the day before due to COVID protocols within the Bruins’ program.
Virginia Tech is one of three ACC programs currently in COVID protocols. Duke has seen its next two games postponed, as the Blue Devils are also currently working through COVID protocols.
Carolina’s next game at Boston College, scheduled for Saturday at noon, is also in doubt. The Eagles have been forced to call off their last two games due to COVID protocols within their program.
WCHL’s programming for Wednesday night has been shifted due to the game’s postponement. Live and Local with Aaron Keck will play at 6 p.m., followed by After Hours with AJ until midnight.
