Having still yet to play in a college game, the hype surrounding UNC point guard Cole Anthony continues to grow as the beginning of the season is less than a month away.
Anthony was selected Thursday as the Preseason ACC Freshman of the Year by a panel of 111 media members at the league’s annual Operation Basketball event, while also earning a spot on the Preseason First Team All-ACC roster.
Louisville’s Jordan Nwora was named the Preseason ACC Player of the Year, but Anthony–the MVP of the McDonald’s All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic–finished second in voting for that award.
Junior forward Garrison Brooks was the Tar Heels’ other representative on the Preseason All-ACC rosters, earning a Second Team selection.
The First Team consists of Anthony, Nwora, Tre Jones (Duke), John Mooney (Notre Dame) and Mamadi Diakite (Virginia).
Joining Brooks on the Second Team is a group including: Markell Johnson (NC State), Vernon Carey Jr. (Duke), Chris Lykes (Miami) and Trent Forrest (Florida State).
