Orange County EMS placed first in the fourth annual May Day EMS Prehospital Competition.
The competition kicked off the May Day Trauma Conference that brings trauma health care providers from around the state to learn from top national trauma professionals.
Teams were given a scenario with multiple simulated patients. They had seconds to quickly assess the simulated scene in which a pickup truck collided with a family before hitting their house.
The competition featured manikins, which were able to provide accurate vital signs and physical injuries to add to the realism of the scenario.
“We are proud of our team,” said Kim Woodward, EMS Operations Manager. “They responded and functioned in a stressful situation after careful practice and preplanning.”
