Today is Monday, October 19, 2015.  Larry David is Bernie Sanders on Saturday Night Live.  That is the biggest moment of the weekend for most.

Larry David is Bernie Sanders

On Saturday Night Live, the cold open was about the Democratic Debate.  One random takeaway from the debate, especially for casual viewers, was the similarity between United States Senator Bernie Sanders and Larry David.  Larry David is best known for creating and starring in HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm.  He also is the co-creator, with Jerry Seinfeld, of the massively successful television series, Seinfeld.  To many, Larry Davis is Bernie Sanders.

So, David was an obvious choice to guest-star on Saturday Night Live as the popular candidate for president.

The sketch also featured Alec Baldwin portraying former Senator Jim Webb.  Saturday Night Live regulars filled the rest of the roles.  Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton, Kyle Mooney as Lincoln Chafee, and Taran Killam as Martin O’Malley.

The Saturday Night Live sketch mirrored the actual debate in that the focus was specifically on Clinton and Sanders.  You will enjoy the next ten minutes.

A Dangerous Celebration

Sports fans were treated to a couple of incredibly rare plays this weekend. In college football, a rivalry game ended with an odd return.  Michigan hoped to run out the clock with a punt from mid-field.  They had a two point lead on Michigan State.  There were only ten seconds left.  Then, their punter mishandled the snap.  Jalen Watts-Jackson scooped up the ball, weaved, and rumbled for the game-winning touchdown as time expired.

Jalen Watts-Jackson became a hero.

But, his hip broke as he was being tackled in the end-zone.  His teammates, unaware of the injury, piled on in a celebration that would make Art Chansky’s skin crawl.  Watts-Jackson will not be able to put weight on his hip for three months.
