You know the name of the county clerk of Rowan County, Kentucky because she defied a federal court order. Kim Davis refused to issue marriage licenses (an important part of her job). The federal court order came after the United States Supreme Court decision of Obergefell v. Hodges. The ruling made same-sex marriages legal in the entire United States. Kim Davis refused to back down and ended up in jail for five days. She became a hero to some and a villain to others.
Now, Kim Davis is claiming she met the Pope.
Her lawyers claim that Kim Davis met the Pope when he was in Washington, D.C. on Thursday. They both happened to be in D.C. on that day. The Pope gave a speech to a joint session of Congress. Kim Davis received an award from the Family Research Council.
The Vatican does not deny the meeting. They also offered no details.
In an interview with ABC News, Davis described the meeting. “I put my hand out and he reached and he grabbed it, and I hugged him and he hugged me and he said, ‘Thank you for your courage.’”

But, the reason is terrible.. Cathriona White, Carrey’s girlfriend, was found dead in her Los Angeles home on Monday of an apparent suicide.
In a statement, Carrey said that he was “shocked and deeply saddened by the passing.”
