The United States women’s national team kicks off its start for 2015 World Cup tonight at 7:30. Team USA comes into the tournament with high hopes and is one of the favorites to win it all.

UNC will be very well represented with nine current and former soccer players competing in the World Cup, the most of any university. While the majority of the players are suiting up for the United States, England, New Zealand, and host nation Canada all have UNC players on the roster.

With Heather O’Reilly playing in her third world cup, she leads former Tar Heels Whitney Engen, Tobin Heath, Lori Chalupny, Meghan Klingenberg, and Ashlyn Harris into battle against Australia tonight in Team USA’s first game of the World Cup.
