CHAPEL HILL – Many people from Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Orange County were in Boston yesterday for the 117th Boston Marathon and were greatly affected by the disaster that took place.

“It was a tragedy in the sense that people died, but it was more a heartbreak, I think, for a city and so many people who put probably the better part of the year into preparing,” says Art Chansky who was just steps away from one of the bombs that exploded. Luckily he made it out safely, while others didn’t. “It was the 117th Boston Marathon. It’s the oldest marathon in the country, and it’s the crown jewel of this great city. It breaks your heart to…(he pauses)…just to know that so many people were affected by it.”

Ron Stutts spoke with Art on the Monday Morning News about his experience of this great tragedy.
