Performance Auto Mall is moving from its Chapel Hill location off of Fordham Boulevard.

Chapel Hill Mayor Pam Hemminger announced that the dealership would be “moving to a location outside of Chapel Hill in 2017” in a letter to the editor in the March 20 edition of the Chapel Hill News.

Hemminger writes that Performance Auto Mall executive general manager Gerald Ramoin told the mayor and town manager Roger Stancil of the move earlier this month.

Hemminger says that the town was told the dealership has outgrown its current 14-acre site and will be joining other Hendrick dealerships on an 88-acre site near Southpoint mall.

Hemminger called Performance “a stalwart supporter of our community,” in her letter.

Performance has sponsored the Hometown Hero Award on WCHL for the last 13 years.
