35 years ago, Jamil Kadoura came to the United States from his home city of Jerusalem. After a successful career in hotel catering, Jamil, along with his mother and sister, opened up a small 12-seat Mediterranean restaurant on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill called Mediterranean Deli. Today, the restaurant is a cherished fixture of Downtown Chapel Hill and Jamil has even expanded the operation to produce gluten-free pita in the basement of the restaurant, all certified by the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America.
