Today is Wednesday, April 6, 2016. Don’t eat your baby. Plus texts from my mother.
I Could Just Eat You Up
You have probably heard or said something like “I could just eat you up,” to a baby. Women say things like this to their babies all of the time.
There is actually a scientific explanation for this. Researchers at the University of Montreal say that the smell of infants triggers the rewards circuit in women’s brains. The causes a release of dopamine and activates the part of the brain that triggers cravings in certain foods.
This happens for all women. It is most powerful among mothers.
Texts From my Mother
Liz, sometimes known as Elizabeth, shares texts from her mother on Facebook. They go in a gallery called ‘Texts from my Mother.’ The gallery has been liked over 86,000 times.
An example. Liz has arrived at her mother’s house to no one answering the door, she writes: ‘Mom I’m here. Answer the door!’ and when she doesn’t get a reply: ‘Get up. I’m going to steal your wreath.’
More than six hours later, mom is up having missed her daughter, but it’s more than a day later when she takes to text again: ‘Where’s my wreath Elizabeth.’
‘You were warned,’ is her reply.
