Caring for the sick, underprivileged and poor for over 45 years starting in Vietnam from 1967 to 1971 working with Catholic Relief to assist war orphans, rape victims, and the children of rape, she now provides free healthcare in Cabarrus County to the unhoused and to those without insurance. Gracie is active in veterans causes, minority issues, and a volunteer in the North Carolina Democratic Party having worked in positions including Precinct Chair, County Chair, District Chair, Chair Cabarrus County Democratic Woman, and 3 terms with the Democratic Women of North Carolina.
