This month on “Wonderful Water,” join 97.9 The Hill’s Brighton McConnell and Katie Harwell, laboratory supervisor at OWASA‘s water treatment plant on Jones Ferry Road, for a discussion about the recent release of the utility’s annual water quality report card.

OWASA provides drinking water to customers across Carrboro, Chapel Hill, and southern Orange County, and it is time for this year’s annual water quality report card. This annual update has details about work being prioritized by the utility as well as a rundown of testing levels for OWASA’s drinking water, and serves as a way to communicate with the Carrboro-Chapel Hill community about how OWASA’s treated drinking water measures up against State and Federal drinking water regulations.

“So, the big thing is that we met or surpassed all of the state and federal drinking water regulations,” said Harwell. “That’s always our priority, and we’re really proud to have accomplished that once again. We also include information about our raw water sources — which are Cane Creek Reservoir and University Lake — as well as the folks that are working behind the scenes, making sure that our community has safe drinking water.”

You can find out more about the water quality report card, and detailed results of testing, on OWASA’s website.

Chapel Hill and Carrboro residents use roughly 7 million gallons of water a day, and “Wonderful Water” is a monthly conversation sponsored by the Orange Water and Sewer Authority highlighting its work to keep our community growing and water flowing.
