Welcome to Woman Crush Wednesday!

This week, join 97.9 The Hill’s Ali Evans for a conversation with Katy Poitras, co-owner of Cat Tales Cat Café! A relatively recent addition to Chapel Hill, Cat Tales provides a space for not only interaction with some fantastic felines, but also for some truly wonderful animals to find their forever homes.

“One of the most rewarding things about this job is people come in, they park their car, they rush in, and then they leave an hour later and they say, ‘oh my gosh, I needed that.’ Or, ‘oh, that was the most relaxing hour of my life.’ Or, we have little kids that say ‘that was the best thing I’ve ever done.’ So that’s pretty cool,” said Poitras.

According to Poitras, before moving to Chapel Hill from Charleston, South Carolina, she had seen another cat café open, and immediately thought that Chapel Hill would be an ideal place to start one of her own. Perfect as the location may be, the last year has been a bit of a struggle.

“I think something I’ve learned especially over the past year is, and it sounds a little corny, but you have to be passionate about it,” said Poitras. “You know, we entered year two of our business in the middle of a pandemic, and to be passionate about something makes getting up and going to work, even in the hardest of times, you can do it and it’ll get you through anything.”

Listen below for the full conversation between Ali and Katy, and tune in next Wednesday for the next WCW introduction to another amazing woman in our community!
