Drawing in the Galleries @ Ackland Art Musuem– January 14th

“Bolin Creek Unpaved: Saving Carrboro’s Last Forest” – January 15th
Join Carrboro filmmaker, Charlie Morris’ premiere of his film, “Bolin Creek Unpaved: Saving Carrboro’s Last Forest.” The documentary explores diversity and controversy in the Bolin Creek forest. Doors open at 3 p.m. at the ArtsCenter in Carrboro for the premiere. Proceeds will benefit the nonprofit group Friends of Bolin Creek, which advocates for preserving the creek and surrounding forest.

Dream Big Book Drive @ Durham Central Park– January 16th
Join Book Harvest for their biggest event of the year, the Dream Big Book Drive will take place on Monday from 1pm -4pm. Inspired by Dr. King’s vision of a world in which every child has the chance to realize his or her full potential, Book Harvest marks MLK Day with the Dream Big Book Drive, an annual community-wide celebration of diversity, literacy, and book ownership for all children.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration @ Franklin St. Post Office– January 16th
