Saturday, June 18 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

The Juneteenth commemorations continue, as Spirit Freedom, in collaboration with the Orange County Historical Museum and the Northern Orange NAACP hold the presentation Sacrifices at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 18. This event is free and attendees will learn the trauma and triumphs of the African-American community through performances, discussions, and other forms. Registration is encouraged. On Saturday, June 18, join Preservation Chapel Hill as they celebrate their 50th anniversary. Attendees will learn more about the work Preservation Chapel Hill has done to preserve what makes Chapel Hill unique, like the history and properties. If you haven’t gone yet, Hillsborough Gallery of Arts is hosting Interconnected Vision through Sunday, June 19. This exhibit features expressionist paintings by Eduardo Lapetina, handcrafted furniture by Pete Rodrigues, along with mixed media sculptures by Lynn Wartski. This celebration will feature black-owned businesses, children’s activities, live performances, food trucks, and more.
