History Calls
A perspective from Melva Fager Okun
Many have voted in Orange County and on most days we have broken voting records. Congrats. But not all have voted and even here in Orange County we could impact state results and even the national results.
We need everyone to vote – it’s the only way democracy works. Make your vote count. You can easily engage by contacting your precinct captain and volunteer.
I live in the Carrboro precinct and we have a goal of going after 1000 voters in our precinct – between newly arrived residents and irregular voters. Instead of 10 people, this year we have almost 80 volunteers. We are in hyper mode now and our goal is by Tuesday, we will have done everything possible to get those 1000 people to the polls – need a ride? We can help. Confused by the ballot? We can help.
We have had state elections decided by as little as 400 votes so no question – your vote matters.
Also, contact Interfaith Voices for Reproductive Freedom at ivrf-nc.org and we can help you text or call or knock on doors in the remaining days.
Let’s go. History calls.
