Don’t Steal My Signs

A perspective from Dale Hodson

Note To Sign Thieves in Chapel Hill:

I can frequently be found near the traffic circle at Weaver Dairy and Sage Roads, here in Chapel Hill, where I watch over my signs.

Some Pro Tips for anyone attempting to steal my property:

1 – If you try to steal my property, I will video you and you’ll be on YouTube
2 – I will chase you if you’re stealing my property
3 – I will file a police report with video evidence of you stealing
4 – You will get a knock on your door and be arrested or summoned by the police
5 – You will go to court and be found guilty
6 – You will have a criminal record in North Carolina
7 – When you apply for a job or credit, your criminal record will be discovered
8 – You will have a much more difficult life than if you didn’t steal

So, you get the message: Don’t Steal People’s Stuff.

Of the two times someone has stolen my property at the traffic circle, I have one conviction and a second criminal case in progress, which I expect will result in another criminal conviction.

Stealing people’s stuff, even though you think “it’s just a sign,” will get you a criminal conviction and a criminal record, which will follow you FOREVER.

If you disagree with my various signs near the traffic circle, then you can “protest” by simply putting up your own signs. Or, if you’re a rational adult, you can calmly walk over to me and we can have a calm discussion.
