This week, Aaron welcomes Grammy-nominated storyteller Milbre Burch, who’s performing her one-woman show “Myth America” throughout our community in November, supported by the Orange County Arts Commission. “Myth America” is an hour-long show for mature audiences, blending Burch’s own personal history with compelling character monologues – a child, an immigrant, and a person experiencing homelessness, all individuals whose voices rarely get the spotlight. (The piece also includes a recitation of Emma Lazarus’ famed sonnet “The New Colossus,” which graces the Statue of Liberty.)
Visit KindCrone.com for more on Milbre Burch.
The show is an exploration of America’s basic values, from democracy to inclusion – so fittingly, she’ll be performing the show both before and after the election. Her next performance will be Friday, November 1, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hargraves Community Center; then she’ll be at the Carrboro Century Center at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10, and again at the main library in Hillsborough at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 10.
