Tickets are available for two upcoming events celebrating the 10-year anniversary of SECU Family House, a home for patients and families who must travel far from their homes for treatment at UNC Hospitals.

Gary Williams, popular host of Golf Channel’s Morning Drive, will emcee the 10th Anniversary Golf Tournament & Birthday Party on Friday, April 13 at Chapel Hill Country Club. All are welcome to join the fun at one or both fundraising events and help support the critically needed nonprofit hospitality house in Chapel Hill.

“When you support Family House, you actively contribute to the health and healing of others,” says Executive Director Janice McAdams. “95% of our guests say that Family House has had a positive impact on their sense of safety and wellbeing.” Family House volunteers and donors make a difference in the lives of thousands of Family House guests every year. Since opening its doors in March 2008, Family House has served more than 20,000 seriously ill patients and their loved ones, and has plans to expand to serve many more.

The morning event is a Golf Tournament, which includes breakfast, lunch, 19th hole, and swag bag for those who purchase tickets or sponsorships. For those who wish to watch only, no tickets are required to attend the Golf Tournament. The evening event is Family House’s 10th Birthday Party, a fundraising fête starting at 6:00pm, which includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, auction, and music by pianist Bill Bolen, a cappella group UNC Clef Hangers, and DJ Joe Bunn.

Community members who will be attendance include Family House guests, volunteers, donors, staff, board members, and other supporters. Honored Birthday Party guests include SECU Family House founders Dr. Thomas Shea and Dr. Brian Stabler and Mr. John B. Morris III of Morris Commercial.

Proceeds from Family House’s 10th Anniversary Golf Tournament & Birthday Party support the daily operating expenses for serving guests and their families. Guests stay for days, weeks or months at a time while receiving treatment at UNC Hospitals, and donations help keep Family House affordable.
