This weekend, the Rogers Road Community Center in Chapel Hill will play host to an event centered on family fun and affordable care for our furry friends.

The first Family Fun Fest put on by Orange County Animal Services is happening Saturday, May 19, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. – and everyone in the community is invited to take part in face painting, arts and crafts, basketball games, snacks and more. The event will also include Animal Control Show & Tell, information about spay/neuter programs, an “Ask a Vet” information booth, low-cost rabies vaccinations and microchipping.

OCAS’s Family Fun Fest is meant to increase community outreach for animal health and welfare. The low-cost rabies clinic ensures that cats and dogs are current on their vaccinations, while providing pet owners with substantial savings on rabies vaccinations. 1-year and 3-year vaccinations will be offered for $10. Pet owners will need to have a previous rabies certificate in hand to receive the 3-year vaccine. A tag alone is not sufficient. Microchips will also be offered at this clinic for $35 each, including registration fees. Owners can choose to have a pet receive only a microchip, only a rabies vaccine, or both. Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers. Please do not leave any animals in cars during the event.
