Today is Thursday, July 7, 2016.  We’re getting a leap second.  Russell Wilson marries Ciara.  We have a new Iron Man.

Leap Second

This is already a leap year.  Now, we are getting a leap second in 2016.  Earth is slowing down so timekeepers tact on an extra second every now a then to the calendar.  The 2016 leap second will come on New Years’s Eve at 11:59 PM and 59 seconds Universal Time (6:59 PM Eastern Time).  The next second will be 11:59:60.

Russell Wilson and Ciara Got Married

Seattle Seahawks quarterback (and former NC State star) Russell Wilson married pop star Ciara on Wednesday in a castle in the United Kingdom.

The Peckforton Castle has 48 bedrooms, which was perfect for the 100 guests.

New Iron Man

Marvel Comics writer Brian Michael Bendis told an interviewer that Tony Stark will be stepping away from his Iron Man alter-ego.  In his place will be a new character called Riri Williams.

Williams is a black woman who enrolled in MIT at 15-years-old.  She came to Stark’s attention when she built her own Iron Man suit in her dorm.
