Welcome to “Making a Splash” with Goldfish Swim School of Chapel Hill!

Every month on 97.9 The Hill, Brighton McConnell is joined by a member of the Goldfish team for a conversation about building confidence in kids, in and out of the pool. You can listen to the full segment above as, this month, Brighton has a conversation with Megan Sweeten, general manager of Goldfish Chapel Hill, about the science of swim play and how summer is just around the corner.

“We build a really positive experience with learning to swim because it can be a pretty scary thing to learn,” said Sweeten.” “From that very first day, some kids are going to comer in, they’re going to have a tough time. Tears and fears are completely normal for most kids, so we take a gentle approach to learning to swim. … Once we’ve gotten over that initial stage, then we just keep going, and we have a lot of fun while we’re doing it. Kids also learn a lot of social skills, because we do have small group settings, so they’re learning things like waiting their turn, or how to interact in a small group setting. So, when they go to school, they’re more prepared for life that way.”
