Thinking of a gift to get for her mother’s birthday in April, UNC senior Prasiddhi Jain knew what would be perfect — a hand-drawn print. She downloaded an app on her iPad, drew out a picture of her family and printed it out for her mother.
Jain didn’t know the print she made would inspire an entire business selling prints and stickers. She began posting in Facebook groups, offering to create custom prints as gifts. More and more people became interested in her work.
Through TikTok videos, Jain found out she could create her own sticker shop in addition to selling custom prints. So in September, Jain officially started her business, The Printaholic, which sells both customizable stickers and prints.
“I love decorating my laptop and my water bottle with stickers,” Jain said. “And I wanted people to have the opportunity to be able to customize stickers.”
The Printaholic sells premade stickers, some based on UNC sports, popular artists and shows like “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” Jain also draws custom stickers of pets, cars and family and friend groups based on photos.

Jain personally packages and writes thank you notes for each order.
“I want it to be an experience when people buy stickers from me,” she said. “I’m hoping that the way that I package everything, it feels like they’re receiving a present, even though they’re the one that ordered it.”
Since she started an Instagram account for The Printaholic in September, the business has grown more than Jain expected. One sticker she made of Joe Biden after the first 2020 presidential debate got around 40 orders over the course of two days.
Once she was receiving more orders, Jain formalized the order process, moving it from Instagram to a website she created for The Printaholic.
“It just felt really nice that people want to order stickers from me,” she said. “I put a lot of love and effort into every order.”

The flexibility of online classes helped Jain find time to grow her business. And even though she’ll have a full-time consulting job, Jain plans to continue The Printaholic after graduation. She wants to keep giving customers the same feeling her mom had when she received the first print nearly seven months ago.
Jain said she especially enjoys when customers send her messages or post on social media about how they or their loved ones were happy with their stickers.
“Those are the moments that I keep doing this business for,” she said. “Because I want people to have those special moments and have special gifts.”
