This week’s WCHL Hometown Heroes are Janice Tyler, director of the Orange County Dept. on Aging, and Cherie Rosemond, a consultant with the department, a facilitator, and director of the Partnership in Aging program at UNC.

The pair have worked together extensively to put together a series of programs that assist seniors in our community, including the latest in the series — called “Downsizing and Decluttering.” The sessions are held at the Seymour Center, and are focused on helping seniors recognize potential pitfalls before they become problems and to assist them in living their best life as they enter the “golden years.”

These programs have been happening for five years, and are free and open to anyone who wishes to attend. It’s an important community resource that directly benefits a sizable and valuable section of our local population, and the continued involvement of Tyler and Rosemond help make them exactly the sort of caring people who go the extra mile to better the world around them that a Hometown Hero should be.
