This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Mark Bell.

Bell’s quick thinking recently saved a life. Bell saw someone lying on the ground and immediately went to check on them, finding them unresponsive and convulsing. He called 911 and emergency services were able to walk him through a few things to help the man, but upon seeing a backpack lying in the road, it was concluded that the man was suffering an overdose. It was confirmed when EMS arrived on the scene and they were able to administer 2 lifesaving doses of Naloxone. Bell, the Mayor of Hillsborough, is a hometown hero, not just for his life-saving actions, but for using experience to encourage his colleagues and all those around him to get the training in case they find themselves in the same situation.
