This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Manfred Makor.

Manfred Makor is a teacher at Northwood High School in Pittsboro. He’s also the founder of the non-profit Legacy Sports Academy. After fleeing his home country of Liberia due to the civil war, Makor has used his non-profit to help provide opportunities for youth in Liberia. Legacy Sports Academy promotes youth soccer and training in computer literacy in Liberia. His work with Legacy Sports Academy has inspired the creation of Carrboro High School’s Legacy club by a student.
