This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Leith Rankine
Rankine is a medical physicist at the UNC Cancer Center and a mentor to students. Rankine’s job is to figure out how to target the cancer treatment in a patient’s body without harming surrounding organs. He will often take his work home with him to work on highly individualized treatment plans for his patients. When he’s not working on treatment plans, he’s mentoring students and tutoring them in school subjects.
