This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Lauren Lorentz de Haas.

Lorentz de Haas is the founder and director of Triangle Youth Ballet. The Triangle Youth Ballet always has a busy schedule, but never more busy than now, gearing up for their annual production of the Nutcracker, which brings in dancers from all over the area. Along with teaching ballet skills, Lorentz de Haas teaches her students life skills like dealing with disappointment and making the best of it,working hard to better themselves, and staying calm in the midst of a successful situation. At every performance, Lorentz de Haas has a collection bin for people to bring in unwrapped toys as well as having a parking lot show with dancers who are too young for the Nutcracker at TYB with the goal of collecting toys for needy families.
