This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Kimberly Sanchez.

Sanchez is the executive director of Community Home Trust. Community Home Trust is a nonprofit focused on affordable housing in Orange County. They acquire and develop homes and sell them to residents who make 60% or less of the area median income. Community Home Trust retains the title so families can build equity and the organization can ensure the homes stay affordable. After 30 years, they now manage over 330 housing units in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. In 2025 they won a state-wide award by expanding their mission and signing on to a new endeavor in Durham at the invitation of a group of residents. Community Home Trust stepped in and acquired the homes of several Durham residents to stop them from losing their homes. They rehabbed the homes with improvements and the residents were able to keep their homes.
