This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Kimberly Jones, an English teacher at Chapel Hill High School and 2022-23 Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Teacher of the Year, who has also been named the Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Central Teacher of the Year, one of nine North Carolina Regional Teachers of the Year!

Jones is active and influential both in and outside the classroom, ensuring diverse perspectives and new voices are heard and that each student is supported and given room to grow. Her recognition makes for the third Teacher of the Year hailing from CHCCS, and her dedication to making the lives of students better is what makes her a Hometown Hero!

Listen to this week’s Hometown Hero segment below, and check in next week for another recognition of someone who is making a difference in our community!
