This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Karen Shelton, long-time UNC Field Hockey coach who is retiring after yet another landmark season coaching Tar Heels to victory and another National Championship!

Shelton has accrued 25 ACC championships, 10 National championships, and 745 victories over 42 seasons — more than any other coach! She’s a Tar Heel icon, a local legend, and certainly a Hometown Hero.
