This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Joy Alvis!
Alvis is an exceptional children’s teacher at Pathways Elementary School in Hillsborough who was recently recognized as the 2021 Exceptional Children Teacher of Excellence in Orange County Schools.
“She’s an advocate for EC children, and all children, really,” said Lynn Brown, principal of Pathways Elementary. “She’s always trying to think of new ways, new strategies … all of her students know she cares, she invests so much time with them and they know — we all know — she wants to make sure they succeed.”
