This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Joseph Megel.
After 22 years teaching in UNC’s department of communication, Megel is headed into retirement. He’s been a beloved teacher for many UNC students, but he’s best known for the Process Series, which he started 18 years ago to give artists and audiences the chance to work together to bring new theatrical pieces to life. The Process Series gives audiences the chance the active creation as its happening and that also helps the creators as well. The shows are free so they’re accessible and give artists a chance to work collaboratively with new audiences to make their pieces even better. The Process Series has hosted many luminary actors over the years and it’s given countless artists the opportunity to bring their vision to life.
