This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Jim Woodall — longtime district attorney for Orange and Chatham Counties. For nearly two decades, Woodall served in the position and his retirement at the end of 2022 marked the end of a career presiding over an office handling high-profile cases and community concerns.
Prior to his tenure as DA, Woodall served as the district’s assistant district attorney for 17 years, and has advocated and worked to adopt elements of reform to the local criminal justice system.
“It has been my honor to serve our district and state for 31 years,” wrote Woodall in a statement announcing his retirement. “I have had the privilege of working with many wonderful people over the years. None more professional or dedicated than my staff in the District Attorney’s Office.”
