This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Jamil Kadoura!

Since the early ’90s, Kadoura has been the face, heart and soul of Mediterranean Deli in Chapel Hill. Kadoura spent childhood years in a refugee camp and served falafel on the streets of Palestine during breaks in his seventh grade class, and immigrated to the United States in the ’80s for education and opportunity. Years later, Med Deli was born, and has been a community fixture ever since — up until the recent fire on Franklin Street.

From fundraisers to food donations, Kadoura is known as a person who actively contributes time, money, effort and more. With the damage done to Med Deli, love and respect is being given right back as neighbors step up to support Jamil and the Med Deli family — in the form of a GoFundMe, and otherwise.
