This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Delores Bailey.

People in our community know Delores Bailey, the executive director of EMPOWERment Inc., has fought to make our community a better place in many ways, including helping businesses get off the ground and for all the values that define us, like inclusion, basic justice, and more. Her latest work is no different. After working to find affordable housing for a UNC employee which ultimately took 5 years, Bailey knew more needed to be done. So she and EMPOWERment Inc. began work on the Pine Knoll, EMPOWERment, Affordable, Community, Housing Apartments (P.E.A.C.H), Chapel Hill’s first multi-unit complex with zero-debt funding. Bailey and EMPOWERment raised $4 million to finish the building debt free and a ribbon-cutting was just held to celebrate the opening.
