This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Delesha Carpenter.
Carpenter is a professor at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy who is leading an effort to that could save lives statewide and hopefully soon nationally. It’s a new online dashboard called Naloxone Near Me. Naloxone is used to reverse an opioid overdose. The new dashboard provides important information about resources in every county of the state, making it easy to find information about naloxone availability wherever you may be. The dashboard also grades North Carolina counties on well they’re doing at making naloxone available and hopefully pushing counties to make changes to make it more accessible.
