Craft beer and wine lovers don’t miss the grand opening of Bottle Rev in Chapel Hill happening this weekend! Enjoy an incredible selection of craft beers on draft from local breweries including Haw River, Mystery Brewing, Bond Brother’s and so much more. Plus a French wine tasting and a large selection of wines to choose from by the glass or bottle from around the world.  This is the fourth location for this local bottle shop, located next door to Brenz Pizza in the East 54 shopping center on Environ way.

Bottle Rev in Chapel Hill is the first location for owners Lewis Hendricks and Julie Paddison. A Pittsboro location is planned to open by early 2018 in a brand-new building, next door to the second location for The Root Cellar Café, in Chatham Park.

“We’re going to be side by side,” said Hendricks. “I’m going to have two big garage doors that open up into a shared outdoor space with a fire pit. Root Cellar’s a really fun partner, they do pizza, they do a lot of fun stuff.”

Hendricks, who left the army a few years ago, has been living in the Triangle area with his family since 2001. Julie a Chapel Hill native and alumnus of UNC  is a wine expert while Lewis is a “beer guy.” According to Hendricks, the decision to open a Bottle Rev was relatively simple.

“There were three thoughts in doing it,” said Hendricks. “Do we name it ‘Lew’s Bottle Shop?’ Do you do something national, like Casual Pint, or do you pick a local chain? Just looking at the positive and negatives of those three different avenues and the relationships that come with someone who is established locally. Whether it’s breweries, distributors, social reach – all that kind of stuff, the positive was to go with somebody local, and Bottle Rev felt like the right fit for us.”

Lewis and Julie have a licensing agreement for the name Bottle Rev from founder, Ted Gross.

Bottle Rev focuses on local beer, “definitely North Carolina beers, but also local to the Triangle area,” according to Hendriks.

The taproom of the Chapel Hill Bottle Rev has 14 taps that feature craft beer and ciders, as well as a self-serve wine station featuring 12 different wines that you can sip by one, three, or six ounce pours. 400 different bottles of wine can be found on the shelves, and the wines will be rotating – just like the beers – giving everyone the chance to try wine at all different price points and styles.

Bottle Rev won’t be serving food, but the store has already established strong relationships with its neighbors, according to Hendricks. Customers can bring in any food they want, including take-out from neighboring restaurants: Brenz Pizza, Tobacco Road Sports Café, and Ragga.

The current business hours of Bottle Rev are Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Saturday from 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. The shop is currently closed on Sundays, but they will rent the space for special events.

Bottle Rev Chapel Hill will have a grand opening weekend party on Friday and Saturday, June 15 and 16, with a full line up of local beers and 12 wines. Plus a wine tasting, mystery beer tasting, chicken wing eating contest, cornhole contest and a special keg of beer from NoDa Brewing called Ales for ALS. They have plenty more in store after the grand opening including weekly wine tastings, pub runs, trivia nights and more, stay tuned!
