Exploring Your Creative Genius: Episode 173
This week’s show is about the biological changes that occur in our brains around the ages of 55-60.
At that age our brains experience the last of the 5-7 wave of myelination that started when we were three — myelin is the fatty substance that wraps around the fibers that connect neurons so they can send and receive electrochemical signals — and myelin not only protects the fibers but it accelerates the sending and receiving of signals.
Each new coating brings with it an additional improvement in performance so it isn’t until we are 55+ that we experience the full benefits.
And at that age we are much more likely to use both hemispheres of our brains, integrated, working together, maximizing the brain’s performance.
One of the researchers, Dr. Zeke Bartzokis, was commenting on these changes when he said “Biologically, that’s what wisdom is.”

“Exploring Your Creative Genius” takes an expansive view on what it means to be creative and entrepreneurial in an ongoing conversation led by Carl Nordgren — entrepreneur, novelist, and lifelong student with decades of experience growing his own creative capacity and assisting others to do the same in exciting new ways!
