Exploring Your Creative Genius: Episode 132

This week’s guest was Juliet Gordy. We learned about her brand new company named Scivora. Scivora is an emotionally intelligent AI app that helps actors and teachers and professionals improve their presentations or performances by providing real-time feedback and coaching. You’ll find more information in the link below.

As I briefly mentioned in the show, anytime I help folks develop their creative and entrepreneurial abilities we find great communications is an important element.

One of the greatest gifts we can give each other these days is our undivided attention (you are assured of that when you use Scivora). Don’t you feel respected, maybe even honored, when you are being listened to, when someone is clearly focusing on what you have to say?

When you offer your full attention to others not only do they feel that regard, but your close listening  serves you as well because you will absorb the ideas, the business models, the strategies, of what the speaker is sharing with you—Steve Jobs said ‘creativity is simply connecting the dots so make sure you have lots of dots’ and that’s what your close listening does for you, provides you with more dots.

And let’s keep building on this: When you listen not only closely but appreciatively, when you listen for the very best of what your friend or colleague is sharing, isn’t it likely the first things you will say will come from that appreciative place, will be words of appreciation?  I don’t promise it but have experienced that when I say appreciative things about a new idea, for instance, there are times that idea will appreciate, will become a better version of itself.

And when the speaker hears your appreciation, when you are standing on common ground of appreciation, then you are best positioned to add your critical comments; the speaker will get much more out of your critique knowing you like the idea.

“Exploring Your Creative Genius” takes an expansive view on what it means to be creative and entrepreneurial in an ongoing conversation led by Carl Nordgren — entrepreneur, novelist, and lifelong student with decades of experience growing his own creative capacity and assisting others to do the same in exciting new ways!
