Exploring Your Creative Genius: Episode 121
My guest last week was Teri Rider, the owner of Top Reads Publishing, and we talked about books and stories and her early creative childhood. It was as a child that Teri became entranced with books and especially storytelling.
Storytellers have been key contributors to human progress. In the past they turned myths into moral codes and tribal legends and wild frontiers into national identities. Homer’s epics shaped Greece. Lincoln’s speeches shaped America. Stories didn’t just describe the world, they shaped it.
And in the past stories also were used as a data storage technology; important information was encoded in stories.
Today our divided nation needs bridge building stories — the stories found on our 98% creative genius common ground for instance. These stories can disarm polarization and help us realize our shared purpose.
In the unknowable future, being able to find the most compelling stories that don’t just warn but inspire will be a service to you and your family and we will need them from our political leaders.
Teri mentioned she is looking for new authors. She also talked about a beta reader program they offer. She’s ready to hear from you.
“Exploring Your Creative Genius” takes an expansive view on what it means to be creative and entrepreneurial in an ongoing conversation led by Carl Nordgren — entrepreneur, novelist, and lifelong student with decades of experience growing his own creative capacity and assisting others to do the same in exciting new ways!
