Exploring Your Creative Genius: Episode 98

I was so delighted to share my brother Loran Nordgren’s wisdom with you last week as he focused on the 4 Frictions that occur when you are trying to promote a new idea. He’s got great insight backed by rigorous research. If you haven’t listened, and idea generation is your world, you’re going to really enjoy this.

An experience that came to mind as I was listening to Loran was how, when I was an active entrepreneur, I would try to get as many meetings as I could with VC’s when I had a very new idea, not ready for presentation, but enough there there so the VC’s could understand. Then I would ask their advice about how this idea can be developed, improved, and I listened appreciatively.

And more than once as the idea matured and reflected the advice I’d received I’d go back and show them how they improved my idea and finally when it was ready for investment the VC whose idea was clearly part of the version now being presented would at least part way sold already.

Who is your key decision maker? The sooner you can involve them in the development process, the more likely they are to get on board when you need them to be.

Loran is co-author of “The Human Element,” a New York Times best-seller. It’s filled with very effective strategies for overcoming the 4 Frictions.

“Exploring Your Creative Genius” takes an expansive view on what it means to be creative and entrepreneurial in an ongoing conversation led by Carl Nordgren — entrepreneur, novelist, and lifelong student with decades of experience growing his own creative capacity and assisting others to do the same in exciting new ways!
