Exploring Your Creative Genius: Episode 79
Last Sunday Vlad Glaveanu was the guest of the show — and when you listen, you’ll understand why I am excited about Vlad returning on a regular basis. I mean, a man whose expertise is creativity, wonder, imagination, collaboration, culture, technology, and Possibility Studies has so much to share and he’s wonderful gracious to share it with us.
Vlad is the founder and president of the Possibility Studies Network and editor-in-chief of Possibility Studies and Society; I’ve just stated exploring what that’s all about. If you’ve been thinking about the possibilities in your life, or if it’s just intriguing to you, you’ll find links below to learn more.
We spent a few moments on wonder and imagination. I was fumbling around, trying to recall a quote from Abraham Joshua Heschel to offer on point, when Vlad recalled a quote attributed to Socrates, ‘Wonder is the beginning of Wisdom’ that fit the moment.
The next day I recalled Heschel’s quote ‘The beginning of Awe is Wonder and the beginning of Wisdom is Awe.’
Wonder offers a vital creative state: an Open-Mind. Perhaps you’ve noticed how Open-Endedness has been a reoccurring theme the past couple of months and when you wonder about wonder we find its importance once again; the greatest benefits from your wondering will be discovered in time, and perhaps also in space for you’ll find your wondering is well served by one of my favorite lines, let’s wonder while we wander.
Vlad mentioned his books and his FREE seminars (I’ve signed up for four) and you’ll find more information about all of his great work here.
The link to the Possibility Studies Network followed by the link for the seminars.
One of his books ‘Wonder: The Extraordinary Power of an Ordinary Experience.’
And his novel, ‘The Wish Thief’. The audio book is read by a great friend of the show, Dana Rowe.
“Exploring Your Creative Genius” takes an expansive view on what it means to be creative and entrepreneurial in an ongoing conversation led by Carl Nordgren — entrepreneur, novelist, and lifelong student with decades of experience growing his own creative capacity and assisting others to do the same in exciting new ways!
