Exploring Your Creative Genius: Episode 99

In last week’s show you heard my guest, Nick Bradfield, share his great ideas about leading and managing teams for the most productive results and so the team members get the greatest satisfaction from making it happen.

Nick is an experience expert at applying the Entrepreneurial Operating System, EOS, and focuses his work on businesses with fewer that 250 employees and I respect that decision; I am happiest sharing my creativity consulting work with mid to small sized businesses as well.

I especially liked his insights into making sure you not only have the right folks working with you, but you have them in ‘the right seats’ — that you have the jobs’ needs aligned with the talents and interests of the person.

His example of Tyler Hansbrough was spot on. Hansbrough’s incredible career as a low post power forward was perfectly suited for his talents as witnessed by his First Team All-ACC and First Team All-American selections all four years he was at UNC. Can you imagine similar success if he’s played shoot guard, for instance?  Nope, it was the right person in the right seat.

I’ll add my individual tip to the mix of leading successful teams: Be an intentionally generous listener, listening for the best of what the team  members offer. They will feel respected and you’ll learn new perspectiveS for new insights into what’s happening with the project.

Check out Nick’s website and LinkedIn profile for more information about the value Nick delivers.
