Exploring Your Creative Genius: Episode 103
This show revisited the 4 Creative Behaviors, Generosity, Humility, Being Playful, and Being Enthusiastic in the pursuit of Beauty.
One of the classroom assignments I would hand off to my Duke students was for them be particularly attentive of folks displaying these behaviors as well as being more intentional about behaving that way themselves.
The first week started with Generosity, then each week the next behavior would be assigned, all students focusing on the same one each week.
Then they would write about what they experienced, what they learned, in the journal they were required to keep. We’d also have what often became quite lively discussion about the Creative Behavior we’d all focused on the previous week.
The Behavior that seems to challenge my Duke student’s the most was Play. As Millenials—my 14 years teaching at that school was when that generation was passing through—they were one of the first generations to experience a significant decline in time spent Playing. When they discussed Play and when I read their journals it was clear that many of them thought having fun was the same as Play. They would talk about all the fun they had with friends going to a movie.
Come explore these ideas and more at my FREE Creativity Workshop at Golden Fig Books, on February 19th, at 6:00.
Would love to meet you.
